I’ve participated in a few Design Sessions that Jooyoung co-facilitated, including Moonspace (office space redesign using the principles of Design Justice, and Culture Guidebook for DCHS) and some Equity work for our department. In those sessions, she brought in her background in design thinking and conflict facilitation, and led us through collaborative sessions that were enjoyable, engaging and thoughtful and really did not feel like work but more like being a part of a transformative process. She brings in creative hand-on custom tools and provides structure while still making room that allows for change and important conversations to happen. The Design sessions are well thought out, starting with design briefs that prepared us before the sessions. And after each session, we received a feedback form and visual session captures that did not filter out or water down the conversations. These sessions made sure that there was representation of BIPOC staff and those with lived experiences. I highly recommend Jooyoung Oh for your team if you are looking for a great facilitator/ planner to partner with you when your team needs a change, needs a vision, or needs to solve a problem.
